The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
This is Thomas Rowley and he has Cystic Fibrosis which is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children.

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects a number of organs in the body (especially the lungs and pancreas) by clogging them with thick, sticky mucus.
Repeated infections and blockages can cause irreversible lung damage and death.

At present there is no cure for CF, but the faulty gene has been identified and doctors and scientists are working to find ways of repairing or replacing it.

The Fred Hollows Foundation, Australia.
The Fred Hollows Foundation is a non-profit aid organisation based in Australia and founded in 1992 by eye surgeon Fred Hollows, his wife Gabi Hollows and their supporters and friends.

The Foundation focuses on treating and preventing blindness and other vision problems. It operates in Australia, The Pacific, South and South East Asia, and Africa.

With the knowledge that four out of five people who are blind don't need to be and that their condition is treatable or preventable, Cool Calm and Collected is particularly interested in this remarkable organisation, the man himself, and those he has trained and mentored along the way.
